SPIE UK will be providing site maintenance, fabric services, a helpdesk and a dedicated site engineering team at two facilities.

SPIE UK, a subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, has won a five-year planned maintenance contract for M&E and reactive works with University Schools Trust (UST), a partnership of six world-leading universities and five sector-leading bodies who are working together to deliver a shared vision of inclusive, high-quality and transformational education.

This is the first contract that SPIE will complete for University Schools Trust, taking place at the Royal Greenwich Trust School and St. Paul’s Way Trust School. Over the five-year contract period, SPIE will be providing statutory planned and reactive maintenance and fabric services, as well as a 24/7 365 days a year helpdesk to the two facilities.

We were extremely impressed by SPIE’s previous experience in the education sector, which gave us confidence the works will be completed to the highest standard.

SPIE was awarded the contract primarily because of the company’s technical expertise and ability to offer local management support of the M&E services. Having a dedicated team to support the works really stood out. SPIE’s agile operations will allow the team to expand its project organisation and structure to meet the future needs of UST. In addition, the firm’s engineering excellence and concept dashboard were deemed extremely beneficial for the execution of the works.

Richard Smith, Strategic Solutions Director, at SPIE UK, said, “We are excited to kick-off this new relationship with University Schools Trust. Through a competitive tender process UST selected SPIE for this contract because of our prowess and experience in delivering a range of specialist planned, reactive and statutory maintenance Hard FM services. With our combined engineering ingenuity, excellent management capabilities and technology know-how, SPIE is best placed to deliver these works efficiently, on time and cost-effectively.”

Patrick Thorpe, Director at Corexis Consulting Limited, Facilities Management Consultant for University Schools Trust, said, “We were extremely impressed by SPIE’s previous experience in the education sector, which gave us confidence the works will be completed to the highest standard. What’s more, they are able to deliver the services UST need with flexibility and technical knowledge. Their structure and resources also mean they can guarantee timely and responsive services, which is crucial for us to deliver undisrupted education to our students throughout the year.”
