SPIE UK continues to demonstrate its commitment to learning and development within the business and recognising those individuals who seek to develop their skills through the various schemes on offer. One of these is the SPIE UK Talent Enhancement Programme (STEP), which was first introduced in 2012 and is going from strength to strength, proving to be instrumental in the development of SPIE’s people.

Participants have been attending a number of modules over a 12-month period. The modules have been designed to develop their personal effectiveness and business skills, delivered not only through the external training provider John Smart of PMR Training, but also through SPIE’s internal experts, adding value to the learning process.

The 2020/21 programme, comprising 18 delegates from across the business, have just completed the course and were presented with certificates by the Facilities Services Divisional Managing Director, Stephen Taylor, at a celebratory meal in November, also attended by senior management.

The STEP programme continues to provide employees with key development in teamworking, time management, negotiations, customer service, presentation skills, communications and project management.

Delegates initially completed a variety of modules virtually to ensure the scheme could be maintained during the pandemic, and subsequently, concluded the final modules face-to-face.

David Mills, Talent Director, said: “The STEP programme continues to provide employees with key development in teamworking, time management, negotiations, customer service, presentation skills, communications and project management. Not only do these skillsets enhance delegates’ capabilities, but also help them realise their full potential. I’d like to take the opportunity to congratulate the 2020/21 participants on this great achievement and welcome the new 2021/22 cohort to the programme.”
