This year’s National Apprenticeships Week happened against a barren backdrop for those in the engineering community.

In December, figures from the Department for Education presented that there had been a 38% drop in level two apprenticeships. Analysis of the data showed that engineering was one of four sectors in which this decline was most evident.

Compounding this, further analysis by the government’s Social Mobility Commission has showed that young people under the age of 25 are less likely to believe that apprenticeships provide opportunities to progress in their future careers.
