SPIE UK is committed to being a diverse, inclusive and positive workplace, investing in and developing our people to become the best they can be.

During the last 18 months, our Central Engineering and Learning & Development teams worked together with our operation team on a new SPIE professional development scheme for CIBSE accreditation. This important UK industry-recognised scheme enables eligible individuals with the appropriate qualifications to achieve Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status and for SPIE to publicise the accreditation.

After submitting all the necessary documentation that included our proposed scheme management structure and how we would orchestrate the mentoring, SPIE UK achieved CIBSE approval in February incorporating our structured plan of action.

As part of SPIE UK’s competency development framework for career development, the accreditation will be delivered by our CIBSE management team, which comprises of our Central Engineering Team, Learning & Development team, selected SPIE Mentors and George Adams, the SPIE UK Director of Energy & Engineering, who is also the scheme’s sponsor.

With its primary purpose being to promote competency and professionalism, CIBSE is an excellent source of expertise and knowledge, specifically of the built environment. That is why SPIE UK has maintained strong links with this essential professional body for many years and is pleased to have the means now to train nominated engineers who wish to become chartered or incorporated.

Our new scheme means that a structured and externally regulated approach to professional development is followed within the business, but it is also a clear indication of SPIE's dedication to the ongoing education and training of its workforce.
