Monday 8th March 2021 is International Women’s Day; the day when the world gets to reflect on, recognise and celebrate the great social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
As a company that operates in an industry well-known for being male-dominated, SPIE understands the critical role women play equally to that of men in the business, and that we depend on this diversity to be successful and continue to advance in the ever-evolving built environment.
To mark this important annual date in the calendar, SPIE is asking its people to support the #ChooseToChallenge movement, by striking a pose with their hand held high to show their commitment to forging gender parity worldwide. This is about raising awareness and challenging inequality, combatting stereotypes, calling out bias and being proactive in promoting change through gender balance in all environments.
We will also be hosting a range of events and activities today including virtual talks with a female motivational speaker Pinky Lilani and our So’SPIE Ladies Network Sponsor and divisional Managing Director, Steven Farmer. This will be a great opportunity for our workforce to join open discussions around this important topic and share their thoughts and views with the hosts, as well as colleagues from across the business.
SPIE will continue to support women in the workplace and champion gender equality now and in the future.
