A labour force of 450 operating a 24-hour, 6-day working pattern.

OGN

Requirement

OGN Group, the north east England offshore engineering, procurement and construction specialist, commissioned SPIE to carry out a ten-day survey of the EnQuest Producer – a 249m long Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel – prior to its redeployment in the Alma/Galia oil field in the North Sea.

The initial survey covered the topsides of the vessel and was carried out in Hamburg. On arrival in Newcastle, where the vessel was to be finished and commissioned, further survey works were required to both the topside and marine (below decks) areas.

Solution

With a labour force of 450 operating a 24-hour, 6-day working pattern, the scope of work covered:

Electrical, instrumentation and control systems installation, testing and inspection on the topside and marine installation

Building services, lighting and small power installation to the building extension

Results

The total scope of the work, including variation packages to the marine section, vendor package works and accommodation, brought the project to 259,000 man hours.
