SPIE’s expertise and experience in the education sector is testament to their extensive portfolio of PFI schools across the UK, providing specialist facilities management. However, it is not just these services that SPIE is proud to deliver to the highest standard, but consultancy support where required, from engineering, technical or compliancy advice to full design and build solutions.

The Co-Op Academy Bebbington is a great example of this, and saw SPIE being approached in 2020 to assist the Academy with a detailed space analysis exercise of the existing school and its facilities.

Understanding the school’s requirement for the project to be delivered within a tight timescale, we immediately engaged our Consultancy Services team for the review with a Principal Architect taking the lead.

The report itself required detailed evaluation of the minimum number of facilities necessary to deliver the planned timetable, recognising the occupancy rates against the scheduled space groups and identify pinch-points within circulation areas.

Upon the capacity review being completed, a detailed assessment was carried out and recommendations against the DFE standard BB103 provided.
