Professional Trainees

We like nothing more than to attract motivated, ambitious individuals into our organisation! People who want to be part of our business and develop a ‘professional’ career for themselves but may not have a university degree. Because our work is so diverse, we can provide opportunities for those individuals who want to develop and grow a career as well as their commitment to studying.

    Ideal Candidate?

At SPIE we are passionate about developing a new generation of recruits in a number of ways. The range of work that we are involved in provides a good variety of professional trainee and training opportunities. Here are some examples of how you can get on board:

Electrical Engineering – you can train in electrical design and management elements of our projects, including lighting, power distribution and control systems.

Mechanical Engineering – this covers heating, ventilation and air conditioning design as well as management elements of our projects.

Public Health Engineering – this involves hot and cold water supplies and waste disposal design and management elements of our projects.

Quantity Surveying – you may like to get involved in the financial and contractual controls for our projects where you’ll monitor costs against budget and seek to minimise spend and enhance value for money.

Project Management – here, you can lead a team and manage resources to deliver the project safely, on programme and within budget while satisfying the requirements of our clients and stakeholders.

Estimating – this involves calculating the amount of plant, resources, materials and time needed to complete a contract. This ensures we can bid for future projects at the right price.

Commercial Management – this falls within the area of cost and contractual controls for our management projects.
